In response to environmental issues and EU targets, amends to Part L Building Regulations now demand a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions and one of the best ways to achieve this is through better insulation. A fundamental part of the revised Regulations is the significant improvements in U-values within the building fabric. Typically meeting this level of improvement will require 45% more insulation. Roofs:

Insulation is typically used between and over joists. If using the loft for storage or living purposes it may be better to look at insulating the rafters.
